Confession under Evidence Act and its Relevancy in Trial Proceedings

The Confession means admission or acknowledgment of guilt. However, there is distinction between "admission " and "confession".

The distinction has been explained by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in CBI vs VVC Shukla 1998 1 SCR 1153 wherein that Court observed "only voluntary and direct acknowledgment of guilt it may nevertheless be used as evidence against the person who made it or his authorized agent as 'admission' under section 21 of the Evidence Act.
